Dreamcast protection scheme broken already?

Wouldn't that be a trip? Here is a link to a site which claims they have successfully backed up a DC GD-ROM using a CD-R disc and a DVD-R drive. They claim you can even play the backup without any sort of "mod chip" for the Dreamcast itself. Please don't think I'm condoning piracy--DC is a cool console, and I'd hate for it to get killed by people copying games. Having said that, if you know the technical aspects behind the GD-ROM system, you'll probably be as impressed as I would be if they actually pulled this off. I saw the link for this on Geeknews.
