Last Wednesday, we noticed that Asus' Eee Top ET1602 was available for pre-order from Amazon. This morning, Asus sent us an e-mail to say the all-in-one nettop is "available now through ASUS North American authorized dealers" at a suggested retail price of $599.
Asus' announcement checks out: the system is now in stock at Amazon. North of the border, NCIX offers both black and white variants of the ET1602 for $699.99 CAD. (Canadians are apparently getting a slightly better deal, since that's equivalent to $541 in greenbacks.)
Again, the Eee Top ET1602 features a 15.6" touch-screen display, Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB 5,400-RPM hard drive, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet, and an integrated camera. Asus says it offers a "companion external DVD drive" for $64, too, although you can presumably plug in any old DVD drive through a USB enclosure and save a few bucks in the process.
This discussion is now closed.
