You see, Microsoft's Office 2010 development team happens to have a Twitter account.
And on that Twitter account, the team recently made a couple of posts teasing the arrival of a new Zune product. The first one reads:
June 2009 will be an important month for Zune lovers.
The second post, which appeared 11 hours later, elaborates with the following:
@Gilly2468 @Chimerica @clubdirthill @serenecloud New product launch, that's all I'm allowed to say. Hold off from buying an iPhone/Pre. :)
Short of a pre-announcement, the message looks clear: we should see some type of Zune phone—either a Microsoft device or a third-party handset running Zune software—launch in June. Either way, in light of the comparison with the iPhone and Palm Pre, you can probably expect a sleek touch-screen device.
Update: The Twitter posts were apparently a hoax.
