Tiny netbooks certainly have their place, but sometimes, you might find yourself longing for a little more screen real estate and a bigger keyboard. That's where Samsung's 12-inch, 3.3-pound NC20 laptop comes in.
Nobody seems to be running special deals on this system right now, but the $549.99 asking price at Newegg is more than tantalizing enough. As we saw in our review, the NC20 treads the thin line between netbooks and proper notebooks by offering a 12.1" 1280x800 display, over five hours of battery life, and a compact form factor with a thin profile (just 1.2").
Also included inside the NC20: a 1.3GHz Via Nano processor that actually runs at 1.5GHz most of the time, Via Chrome9 HC3 graphics, a 160GB 5,400-RPM hard drive, 802.11g, Bluetooth 2.0, a 1.3-megapixel webcam. The integrated graphics processor can actually decode MPEG-4, VC1, and DivX video—just don't ask it to run any newer games. The Nano CPU is a worthy competitor to the Intel Atom inside vanilla netbooks.
