Mozilla toys with Chrome-like, tabs-on-top interface mockup

— 5:09 PM on July 27, 2009

If last week's Firefox 3.7 interface mockups merely took cues from Google Chrome and Internet Explorer 8, then some of the latest Firefox 4.0 mockups espouse the Chrome look pretty much completely.

Check out these two concepts from Mozilla designer Stephen Horlander:

Here again, Horlander warns that the mockups are "not final" and only serve for "brainstorming/exploration." Indeed, the wiki page with these images also contains discussions about the pros and cons of the Chrome-style, tabs-on-top concept. Further down the page, Horlander also explores a possible context-sensitive button that would fill in for Firefox's existing go, refresh, and stop buttons.
