As you might already be aware, we've been hosting sponsored coverage of MSI's Master Overclocking Arena 2009 here on TR. Through this competition, MSI seeks to bring together some of the finest overclockers in the world and to let them show off their skills on MSI and Intel hardware.
The final shoot-out will occur in Beijing, China next month, but the competition also involves two qualifying phases in each region. Phase two of the North American leg, in which two of the top 10 contestants will be singled out for the Beijing finals, is currently underway and will conclude on August 2.
This is a perfect occasion to let onlookers try to guess the winners for a chance to win prizes. MSI already started a great guessing contest based on that very premise, but we thought we could do even better, so the firm suggested we stage our own contest with some more serious hardware to give away.
Here's what we, thanks to MSI's support, are giving TR readers a chance to win if they correctly predict the names (and order) of the phase two winners:
To maximize your chances, you may participate in both this guessing contest and MSI's own.
Entering is easy, and guessing shouldn't be too tough, since only 10 winners escaped from phase one of the contest. You need only to guess who will be in first and second place out of that group. The names of the 10 phase one winners are listed here, along with their scores. Fill out the form below with the names of the two overclockers you expect to win phase two of MSI's Master Overclocking Area in North America.
Before going into the nitty-gritty details of our contest, we'd like to take a moment to thank MSI for their continued support. MSI has also been sponsoring our podcasts all summer and giving us opportunities to interview personnel involved with the Master Overclocking Arena. You can listen to one such interview in the latest episode of the TR podcast.
Rules and regulations
We will accept entries only from residents of the United States and Canada.
Only one entry allowed per person, household, or e-mail address. Multiple entries per person, household or address are not permitted. Please don't try to game the system by entering your girlfriend, wife, kids or pets. We'll probably disqualify you if you do.
We will be accepting entries until August 2 at noon CDT. After MSI announces the phase two winners, we will then, within 48 hours, determine which contest participants correctly predicted the winners' names and positions. If we find only a single correct prediction, that participant will get both prizes. If we get multiple correct predictions, we will select two participants in a random draw. The first participant selected will get to choose his prize, while the second participant we draw will get the remaining prize.
You must include your full name, a valid and working e-mail address, and a physical shipping address with your entry. Only the winners' names will be announced on the site. We will not share the entrants' addresses or other personal information with our sponsors or anyone else. Incomplete entries will be disqualified. TR reserves the right to disqualify entries that appear to be attempts to game the system or circumvent the rules in any way.
The staff of The Tech Report and their immediate families may not enter the giveaway and are not eligible to win.
No purchase is necessary. This giveaway is void where prohibited by law. Neither TR nor MSI is responsible for any taxes on the prizes, damage in shipping, damage caused by using the prizes with other products, or health issues such as RSI, eye strain, or chemical addictions that may result from prolonged use of the prizes. We may answer questions and offer clarifications of the rules in this comments thread.
Update 08/02: The deadline for the contest has passed. A winner will be announced soon.
