Well, it's official: new iPods are coming out next week. AppleInsider says Apple has sent out invitations to members of the press for an event on September 9 at 10 AM PDT.
The invitation features one of Apple's trademark iPod-toting black silhouettes as well as the caption, "It's only rock and roll, but we like it"—a reference to the similarly titled Rolling Stones song. The event will take place at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
Once again, the rumor mill suggests Apple is gearing up to introduce new iPod touch and iPod nano players with built-in cameras. No big surprise there, since according to Wikipedia, all iPod touch and nano devices to date have come out at some point in early September.
AppleInsider also reiterates that, according to its sources, you shouldn't expect any word of that tablet device everyone's been talking about. That product reportedly won't debut until early next year.
