Sweeney on the Pentium 4

— 12:06 AM on January 25, 2001

Gearing up for our review of the Pentium 4 processor, we decided to fire off some questions to Tim Sweeney, Epic's lead programmer and one of the architects of the Unreal engine, to see what he thought of Intel's new chip and its microarchitecture. As you probably know, the Pentium 4 is quite a departure from conventional x86 designs, and using it best will require new compilers and new optimizations. So developer support is especially crucial to the P4's long-term success.

You'll find our questions and Tim's insightful reply right here.
