Businesses go 1984 on their employees

— 1:14 AM on December 8, 1999 has put up this very revealing article discussing the various ways in which businesses use an employee's PC to spy on them. The practices cover everything from reading e-mail to monitoring web sites visited, and people are getting fired over it. Even worse is the reaction of the courts; they seem to side with the employer regardless. If you think this doesn't apply to you, read it anyway; it'll make you think twice before you... well, pretty much do anything with your computer at work. That rumbling you feel in the ground is George Orwell rolling over in his grave.
