Launch roundup: New PSUs and hot server gear

— 2:41 PM on July 23, 2010

Our inbox hasn't collected too many announcements about new and exciting products this week, but we still have news from Scythe and server gear maker Nimbus.

  • Scythe starts selling Chouriki 2 power supplies. Although perhaps better known for its cooling products, Scythe also dabbles in power supplies. The Chouriki 2 is the Japanese company's latest PSU series, spanning 650, 750, 850, and 1000W units with 80 Plus Silver certification. Interestingly, Scythe offers variants of all four models with or without modular cabling. Prices start at $121 for non-modular units and range up to $185 for the 1kW, modular Chouriki 2.

  • Nimbus Data Systems announces S1000 enterprise flash system. With a $99,995 price tag and 10TB of flash storage, the S1000 storage system doesn't exactly fall in consumer territory. Still, it's a sight to behold, with 24 hot-swappable 400GB flash blades and support for 120Gbps of bandwidth via Nimbus' FlexConnect scheme, which combines a dozen 10GbE ports. (The FlexConnect option costs another $9,995.) Nimbus says S-class systems can scale up to 600 blades per file system, too.

That's all, folks! See you next week for more launch announcements.
