Early deal of the week: A 60GB SandForce drive for $135 after rebate

— 1:17 PM on July 28, 2010

We interrupt our normal schedule to bring you an early deal-of-the-week post with a today-only special. Newegg is currently selling OCZ's 60GB Vertex 2 solid-state drive at a sizeable discount: down from $185 to $155 shipped, or $135 after a mail-in rebate.

To get the lowest shipped price, simply enter the promo code "EMCYTZT67" on the checkout page without the quotes. $155 for a 60GB, SandForce-based solid-state drive is a fine deal already, but you can save an extra $20 by filling in the mail-in rebate card linked on the product page. Quite a bargain, provided you get that rebate check in the mail eventually.

Head this way to see how a higher-capacity Vertex 2 holds up against the competition. OCZ's 250GB/s sustained sequential write rating might be a little optimistic, but it's not too far from the truth. The 100GB drive we tested also held up quite well our multitasking, IOMeter, and game loading tests.
