Update on the Creative-Aureal trial

— 9:47 AM on December 9, 1999

Vortex of Sound has an eyewitness account of the court case between the two leading PC audio companies, Creative and Aureal, in the wake of closing arguments. What's it all about? Patents, of course!

The lawsuit was filed by Creative alleging that Aureal had infringed upon a patent they had obtained through their purchase of E-MU Systems. Creative had originally asked for an injunction to prevent Aureal from selling their Vortex chipsets; this was denied by the court earlier this year.
As one might expect, Vortex of Sound's account is a little biased, but it's interesting, nonetheless. (Thanks to VE for the link.)
