We've all heard complaints about the high cost of the latest blockbuster games. $60 seems to be the norm these days, but not every new release is that expensive. Serious Sam 3: BFE is now available for pre-order on Steam, and you'll pay just $36 if you buy the game ahead of its October 18 release. After that, it'll only cost $40.
We don't have an official release date for dungeon crawler Torchlight II, but it's slated to come out this year. When the game does go on sale, you'll pay only $20. Incidentally, that's the same price as the first Torchlight game, which earned a score of 83 on Metacritic with an impressive 8.7 user rating.
The Serious Sam series also has a history of low prices, and the reviews are just as glowing. Plenty of inexpensive games are well-received by critics and gamers alike, of course, but it's rare to see budget titles step into the world of first-person shooters and Diablo clones. If you think Serious Sam 3 and Torchlight II look like bargains now, just wait until their first Steam sale.
