NVIDIA and Hercules squabble

— 12:07 AM on April 8, 2001

Rand has highlighted this statement over at the [H]ard|OCP.

Also, word around the campfire is that NVIDIA will be increasing the cost of chipsets to Hercules.
Is NVIDIA simply playing hardball? About a week ago, Beyond3D posted their interview with Guillemot / Hercules.

Q: How does the Kyro II fit in the upcoming and current range of boards?

A: Well Nvidia stopped the production of the MX chips, these will be replaced by MX200 and MX400.
We will not produce a board based on the MX200 or MX400 chips.
The big problem is that the new MX series will have a bigger pricetag as the Kyro II based boards and the performance will be slower as the Kyro II based boards. So we don't think a the new MX series will sell very well.

This will bear watching. Thanks to rand for the [H]ard|OCP link.
