Mark your calendars, folks. Irrational Games has set a release date for the next chapter in the BioShock series, BioShock Infinite. The game is coming out on October 16 for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
That's the U.S. release date, mind you. If you happen to reside, er, elsewhere, you'll apparently have to wait until October 19.
Ken Levine, Irrational Games' founder and Creative Director, says BioShock Infinite has been his studio's "sole focus for the last four years." The original BioShock came out on August 21, 2007, so work on this sequel apparently began early on. (If you're wondering about BioShock 2, that title was the work of another studio—2K Marin. It continued the story of the original game, too, whereas BioShock Infinite takes place in a different world with different characters.)
Until BioShock Infinite arrives, you can pass the time by obsessively watching and re-watching last summer's 14-minute gameplay video. Enjoy.
