Oh no you didn't. Hi-Rez Studios has announced the official release date for Tribes: Ascend with a new trailer, amusingly titled Llama Island. You can probably guess where this one is going.
To start, the video recalls the haunting, piano-laced launch trailer for Dead Island. It's a clever riff on one of the best game trailers of all time, and I have to admit I cracked a smile. About 1:12 in, though, the poignant soundtrack is shattered by a violent dose of dubstep. You didn't think you'd make it through a game trailer without a thumping bass line, did you?
Along with the new trailer comes word that Tribes: Ascend will be released on April 12. The free-to-play title is currently being beta-tested by over 400,000 players, so it should be reasonably polished—and balanced—by the final release date. If you want to get in on the action early, the beta can be downloaded here.
