Might we see another mid-range Radeon debut in the not-too-distant future? German website HT4U.net seems to think so. The site claims to have it on good authority that AMD is planning a "Tahiti LE" graphics card, a slower sibling of the Radeon HD 7950 that will sit between that card and the Radeon HD 7870.
Details are few and far between, but considering the name, I'd expect a "Tahiti LE" card to feature the same Tahiti silicon as the 7950 and 7970, just with fewer enabled units and perhaps a narrower memory interface. HT4U.net says its "internal information" suggests AMD's branding won't bear that out, though. Word is that the upcoming card will carry Radeon HD 7800-series branding—the site speculates that it could be dubbed the "Radeon HD 7870 Boost."
We'll find out soon enough if HT4U.net has its facts straight. It says AMD will release the Tahiti LE card later this month. There's no word on pricing just yet, but considering the Radeon HD 7870 starts at about $230 and the 7950 is priced around $300 and up, something around the $260-270 price point seems likely.
