In case you missed it, Entertainment Weekly posted a teaser clip of the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic starring Ashton Kutcher yesterday. The clip shows a brief exchange between Jobs and Steve Wozniak in the HP parking lot, and it's a little creepy to watch:
Yeah, I don't think I buy Kutcher as Jobs. Noah Wyle seemed to capture Jobs' intensity a little better in that old Pirates of Silicon Valley flick.
There's another problem. The real Steve Wozniak commented on Gizmodo about the clip, and he says the portrayal is more fiction than fact:
Not close...we never had such interaction and roles...I'm not even sure what it's getting at...personalities are very wrong although mine is closer...don't forget that my purpose was inspired by the values of the Homebrew Computer Club along with ideas of the value of such machines and Steve J. wasn't around and didn't attend the club so he was the one learning about such social impact of the future.
Wozniak sent Gizmodo a couple of followup e-mails with some more specifics. According to him, Jobs' "lofty talk" came "much further down the line." Still, true to his typically cheerful self, Wozniak is staying open-minded about the movie. "[It] should be very popular and I hope it's entertaining," he told Gizmodo.
Accurate or not, you'll be able to see Ashton Kutcher in jOBS (yes, that's the correct capitalization, apparently) in theaters on April 19.
