Is this Just Cause 3 I see before me? Well, maybe not—Joystiq says this might also be a Mad Max title. But in any case, Avalanche Studios founder and CEO Christofer Sundberg teased a new game on Twitter yesterday, tweeting the following words and picture:
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? #yearoftheavalanche #avalanchestudios @ Avalanche Studios http://instagr.am/p/WPwBJvpwlb/
The character certainly bears a striking resemblance to Just Cause's own Rico Rodriguez. And, you know, the whole "jumping from a plane" thing is classic Just Cause. So is "kicking someone off a bike"—and Sundberg posted a shot of this character doing exactly that two weeks ago.
However, Joystiq points out that Avalanche is also working on a Mad Max game under the leadership of God of War 2 director Cory Barlog. That game is rumored to be a tie-in with the upcoming Mad Max sequel, which is now due out in 2014. The screenshots certainly do have a slight post-apocalyptic vibe. Hmm.
Well, whatever. As long as there's wanton destruction and sandbox gameplay, I'm sold.
