This isn't exactly a shocking revelation, since the rumor mill has been predicting an early June launch for quite a while. Still, a little certainty is always a nice thing. Check out this image Intel posted on its Chip Shots blog earlier this morning:
4th Generation Intel Core is, of course, the official umbrella brand for Haswell. And 3,337,200,000,000,000 nanoseconds works out to 38 days and 15 hours. Since the Tweet was posted at 8:00 AM Pacific Time this morning, that puts the Haswell launch on June 3 at 11:00 PM PDT—or June 4 at 1:00 AM EDT, if you live on the East Coast.
Good to know. Too bad there's still no word on exactly which chips the company will unveil on launch day. The only other thing the Chip Shots posting says is, "The new family of processors will surpass old technology expectations and usher in a host of striking new designs with incredible performance and extraordinarily long battery life."
