So, Asus has a high-end ultrabook with a high-density screen in the works—and the company has just shown off the system in a rather well-produced teaser video. Check it out:
Apparently, the Zenbook UX301, as it's called, features a Haswell-based Core i7 processor from Intel, a 2560x1440 touch screen, 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity, Bang & Olufsen audio, and a lid made not of aluminum or plastic, but of Corning's Gorilla Glass 3. Asus doesn't say much else, except that the upcoming Zenbook is "thinner, lighter, and more luxurious than ever." Oh, and around 43 seconds in, the video shows what looks like a Thunderbolt port.
The folks at Engadget have also seen the video, and they reckon the Zenbook UX301 is just another name for the Zenbook Infinity Asus announced back at Computex in June. That machine was supposed to have a WQHD screen, a 28W Haswell CPU, and a 0.61" profile, but it was also expected to have Gorilla Glass 3 on the display lid and on the palm rest, which doesn't sound like it fits the bill.
Either way, there's still no word on availability or pricing. That's too bad, because my 2008 MacBook is in dire need of replacement, and I could definitely use some high-PPI goodness from Asus.
