The movie as video game: one step closer
This summer has been characterized by video games making the jump to the silver screenoften with underwhelming results. Now the tables are about to turn, as Remedy Entertainment prepares (finally!) to ship Max Payne, a third-person shooter with a decidedly cinematic flair. Have a look at the Max Payne preview at Shacknews to get a feel for the game. It's very Matrix-esque. (Rand sent along the link, but I already read the 'shack, so nyaah.) Those of you who have seen the "Lobby" demo in 3DMark 2001 have seen a glimpse of Max Payne in action. If the cinematic visual cues are coupled with decent cut scenes and a real plot, it could be a very immersive experience. I can't wait to play the demo.
