DDR SDRAM more bandwidth efficient than RDRAM?

— 1:08 AM on July 22, 2001

SiSoftware's popular Sandra benchmark has been updated to make better use of EMMX/SSE/SSE2 instructions. This should result in more accurate memory scores for both the Athlon and Pentium III/4 platforms. Van's Hardware is reporting that the new version of Sandra shows that DDR memory may be more bandwidth efficient than Rambus. They also speculate on how a dual channel DDR implementation a la nForce would compare to the current i850 chipset.
