Office Space writer and director Mike Judge has a new comedy series on HBO. Dubbed Silicon Valley, the show offers an updated take on the tech industry. The first episode is streaming for free on YouTube, and you should watch it, because it's awesome.
Be warned, though. Some of the language isn't safe for work.
I'm a big fan of Judge's work dating back to Beavis and Butthead, and I really like what I see of Silicon Valley so far. The jokes are savvy and smart, for the most part, and there seems to be just the right amount of awkwardness in some of the interactions. It will be interesting to see how the series develops through the eight episodes scheduled so far.
The rest of the series probably won't be streaming on YouTube, of course. The first hit might be free, but getting your fix will likely require an HBO subscription—or familiarity with illicit means. HBO programming president Michael Lombardo views Game of Thrones piracy as a compliment, so perhaps he'll be cool with the Silicon Valley torrents that will inevitably sprout up.
So, what do you think of the show so far. Nailed it?
