Evolve is an upcoming multiplayer game from the folks behind the original Left 4 Dead. Like the zombie FPS, it puts four players on the same team. And that's pretty much where the similarities end. Instead of targeting hordes of the undead, players are tasked with hunting a single, powerful beast. That monster is controlled by a fifth player, providing an interesting twist to traditional shooter gameplay.
Speaking of twists, the latest trailer shows a bunch of in-game footage from the perspective of not only the beast, but also the people hunting it. The trailer is interactive, allowing viewers to jump between different takes on the action. Check it out:
Each of the hunters has different abilities, adding more depth to the experience. The visuals look decent, too. Evolve is based on CryEngine tech, so it should take advantage of cutting-edge PC hardware. The game is also coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One—but not to last-gen consoles.
Evolve is scheduled to ship in the fall, and pre-orders are already available online. I'm not sure I'm ready to pull the trigger just yet, but this game is definitely on my radar now.
