VIA P4X266 is coming soon

PROM is reporting that VIA's P4X266 is beginning to sample, and you can expect to see some benchmarks early next month. The P4X266 is a P4/DDR chipset, but because there are questions about whether or not VIA has Intel's full blessing—namely, a license from Intel—the P4X266 might have a hard time gaining market acceptance. Nevertheless, OCWorkBench reported on a very aggressive pricing strategy for the P4X266. Initial boards will be based on the existing Socket 423, as VIA is having difficulty producing a Socket 478 version. Speaking of Darth VIA, the P4X266 has already undergone three revisions.
