Adventure games are a regrettably rare breed nowadays, so I get excited whenever I see a new one crop up. Untold Games' Loading Human is doubly exciting. It not only belongs to the adventure genre, but also promises to break new ground by coupling Oculus' VR technology with motion controllers like the Razer Hydra and Sixense Stem.
Here's Untold Games' pitch from the studio's Kickstarter page. Ladies, be warned: Untold Games CEO Flavio Parenti is disturbingly handsome.
Even based on this early footage, the game's interactivity and immersion potential is obvious. The Unity Engine graphics in that video aren't anything to write home about, but Untold Games has ported their project over to Unreal Engine 4, and the results look pretty dang good:
The Kickstarter campaign for Loading Human already has over $8,000 in pledges toward a $30,000 goal, with 28 days to go. If all goes well, the team expects to have the game ready as soon as the Oculus Rift headset hits the mass market—early next year, they say. That all seems a tad ambitious to me, but then again, the prospect of an Oculus-enabled adventure game is almost irresistible. I might just have to send a few bucks their way.
