Into the belly of the beast

The GamePC guys have actually visited Rambus headquarters and come away with a report of the goings-on at everybody's, uhm, favorite little memory company. They even took pictures. They were treated to a demo of a Pentium 4 running a 533MHz bus with PC1066 RDRAM memory—that's 4.2GB/s of memory bandwidth. Rambus's roadmaps also receive some attention; their plans strech out to 2005, where 9.6GB/s RDRAM is expected. No word on innovations in the Rambus legal department.

Now I can't confirm this, but after the visit, I hear the GamePC guys engaged in a deep-cleansing ritual involving a fire house, 500 gallons of water, and a foaming cleanser. Let's hope they're recovering well.
