This past weekend, a record 8,020,813 gamers were on Steam at the same time. According to Valve's stats page, the new peak occurred around 12:12 PM PDT, amid the closing hours of the Steam Summer Sale.
This new record shatters the old peak figure of around 7.5 million users during the Christmas period last year, according to Polygon. With this record, and with over 75 million active users as of January, Steam and PC gaming seem plenty healthy. If you were playing one of your Summer Sale acquisitions yesterday afternoon, give yourself a pat on the back for helping to make this record possible.
