I didn't intend for this week's deals post to be all about storage, but that's kinda what happened. Before we get into cheap SSDs and hard drives, though, I should note that TigerDirect has a $15 off $100 promo that's set to run until the end of September. It should work with any product, and the only requirement appears to be entering a valid email address.
- TigerDirect is selling PNY's Optima 480GB SSD for just $164.99 after coupon code ARN137521 and a $20 mail-in rebate. Add the $15-off promo, and you're looking at a cost per gig of only $0.31. That's as cheap as I can recall seeing any SSD—ever. Newegg has a similar deal, just without the additional $15 discount. That vendor is also selling the 240GB version for $79.99 after a $20 rebate.
- If you're craving a faster drive, Plextor's M5P Xtreme 256GB is on sale at Newegg for only $109.99 after a hefty instant discount and a $25 mail-in rebate. The M5P has higher performance ratings than the Optima and a longer five-year warranty. It's one of Newegg's "Shell Shocker" deals, though, so supplies are limited.
- Mechanical storage still has its place, and it doesn't get much cheaper than Seagate's Barracuda 4TB. TigerDirect has slashed the thing to just $129.99 with coupon code KSV136597. Add the $15-off promo, and the asking price drops to only $115.99, which works out to less than $0.03 per gig.
- I lied. There is one tantalizing deal that has nothing to do with storage. The Magic Wand "personal massager" is on sale at Newegg again, this time for $44.95 after promo code EMCPBWE62. This 12-incher has a vibrating, "spongy spherical head" that's supposed to relieve a range of ailments, including carpal tunnel syndrome, nerve injuries, strained muscles, neck and back pain, and possibly loneliness.
That's all that caught my eye this morning. As always, feel free to add anything I've missed in the comments below.
