Well, if there was any doubt left, the Wall Street Journal has just about quelled it. The paper says it has word from three people "familiar with the situation" that Google will release its next Nexus phone later this month.
The device will have a 5.9" screen, will be made by Motorola Mobility, and will launch simultaneously with the next Android release, the Journal adds, lending weight to the rumors that have made the rounds recently.
According to one of the paper's sources, Google wants to "deliver a Nexus phone that rivals the iPhone 6 Plus on display quality but at a lower price." Recent leaks suggest the next-gen Nexus has a 2560×1440 display resolution, which would yield a pixel density of about 500 PPI on a 5.9" screen—a fair bit higher than the iPhone 6 Plus' 401 PPI.
The Journal is rarely wrong about such things, so only one piece of the puzzle remains: when exactly will Google pull back the curtain on its new phone? The rumor mill isn't any help there. For what it's worth, though, the last Nexus phone launch took place on October 31 last year.
