Deal of the week: A monster PSU for $110, Devil's Canyon for $196, and more

— 10:43 AM on November 14, 2014

One of this week's deals expires at 11:59 AM Central Time, so let's cut to the chase.

  • SeaSonic's X-1250 PSU is massively discounted at Newegg for a couple more hours. This 1250W monster usually sells for over $200, but instant savings combine with a $20 mail-in rebate to bring the effective price down to just $109.99. That's a heck of a deal for a high-end unit with fully modular cables, 80 Plus Gold certification, and five-year warranty coverage. SeaSonic's reputation is excellent, too, and so are the Newegg user reviews. Thanks to TR reader John for the tip.
  • Intel's Core i5-4690K has become a staple of the Sweet Spot build in our System Guide. The Devil's Canyon quad usually sells for around $240, but TigerDirect is taking off $30 with coupon code GYN146779, and you can shave a few more bucks with this $15 off $100 promo. Combine the two, and the 4690K ends up costing only $195.99. Thanks to Slickdeals for this one.
  • Intel's Anniversary Edition Pentium G3258 is the perfect chip for cash-strapped overclockers, and MSI'z Z97 U3 Plus motherboard looks like a good match for it. The board has full overclocking support, loads of USB 3.0 ports, and an M.2 slot for mini SSDs. The U3 Plus is incredibly affordable, too; it's on sale at Newegg for a mere $69.99 after a $40 discount and $20 MIR. That's the lowest price tag I've seen on a Z97 board to date.
  • This week's cheap SSDs include dueling options around $200. The most intriguing may be Toshiba's Q Series 512GB, which is on sale for $199 at B&H. (Thanks again John.) Intel's 530 Series 480GB is available for $0.99 more, this time at Newegg with promo code EMCWWWF97. The Intel drive has a lower cost per gig but a longer five-year warranty, but it's hard to go wrong either way.

That's what stood out to us this morning. If we missed any good deals, feel free to add them in the comments below.
