Telltale's Game of Thrones game looks pretty good

You might know Telltale Games for its excellent The Walking Dead episodic game series. The studio is now hard at work on a Game of Thrones title, and the first official trailer for it went up on YouTube today. Check it out:

The official video release follows the less-official screenshot leak from earlier this week. It looks like Telltale has gone with a slightly cartoonish aeshtetic similar to The Walking Dead series, although the studio has managed to insert some pretty true-to-life renditions of the actors from the TV show. (Speaking of which, that's Lena Heady narrating the trailer.)

While the series will feature cameos from the books' main protagonists, it will follow some new characters, which should allow Telltale to flex its creative muscle. Here's the synopsis in Telltale's words:

This new story tells of House Forrester, a noble family from the north of Westeros, loyal to the Starks of Winterfell. Caught up in the events surrounding the War of the Five Kings, they are thrown into a maelstrom of bloody warfare, revenge, intrigue, and horror as they fight to survive while the seven kingdoms tear themselves apart.

You will take on the role of different members of the Forrester household, and determine their fate through the choices you make; your actions and decisions will change the story around you.

The series is scheduled for a cross-platform debut later this year on Windows, OS X, iOS, and both new- and last-gen consoles.
