Xbox chief: '[I]t's time for us to talk about gaming on Windows'

— 2:56 PM on December 12, 2014

We learned yesterday that Microsoft plans to unveil Windows 10's "consumer experience" on January 21. The company has stayed mostly mum on the specifics, but it now looks like PC gaming could be front and center—at least judging by this tweet from Xbox head Phil Spencer:

As Polygon points out, Spencer's job description as Xbox chief calls for him to, in part, help "bring more of the magic of Xbox to all form factors, including tablets, PCs and phones." Microsoft didn't exactly stay true to that mission statement at E3, but Spencer chalked that up to E3 being a "console show" (before asserting that "gaming on Windows is critical to Microsoft's success").

Microsoft has a long history of empty promises when it comes to PC gaming, so I think I'll take a wait-and-see approach on this one. I've been burned too many times to be too hopeful.
