Another security flaw in Hotmail

— 12:05 AM on August 20, 2001

TechTV is reporting that hackers have discovered another security hole in Microsoft's Hotmail.

Details of how to take advantage of the hole were posted on a website run by a group known as Root Core and have since surfaced on several other websites and newsgroups. However, since exploiting the flaw involves a good deal of guesswork, security experts say Hotmail's 110 million users shouldn't worry too much.
Root Core has notified Microsoft of the problem.

Update: Microsoft has reportedly fixed the problem.
