The slim FTZ01 and RVZ02 chassis aren't the only new SilverStone chassis being ogled at CES this year. A couple of more cuboid designs also attracted our eyeballs. Both hail from the Sugo series, and they're ready for mass production.
The SG13 doesn't forget that "mini" is a key part of Mini-ITX. This small-form-factor case measures 8.7" x 7.1" x 11.2", yielding a total volume of just 11.5 liters, or 12.2 quarts. Despite its compact proportions, the SG13 accepts dual-slot graphics cards up to 10.5" long and ATX PSUs up to 5.9".
Silverstone is offering two versions of the SG13: one with a brushed metal face and another with a mesh front that should provide better airflow. Both share the same steel body and internal guts.
System cooling is limited to a single 120-mm fan mount. On the storage front, a dedicated 2.5" bay is joined by a dual-mode cage with room for one 3.5" drive or two 2.5-inchers.
If you want room for more storage or expansion cards, the SG12 serves up additional bays and support for microATX motherboards. At 10.6" x 8.3" x 15.5", though, its total volume is more than double that of the SG13.
This beefier brother can take three 3.5" drives and nine 2.5" ones. It even has a 5.25" bay for optical drives or fan controllers. There are internal mounts for three fans: one 120-mm and two 80-mm. We don't have details on maximum graphics card and PSU lengths, but it looks like there's more room for those components, too.
The SG12's beige internals could use a coat of black paint, but I dig the brushed aluminum front and the touch of blue flair. Those who prefer a more understated look can opt for the SG11, which appears to be identical to the SG13 apart from the front panel.
The plastic face and acrylic strip don't look as nice as brushed and anodized metal, but odds are the SG11 will cost less than its flashier twin. Pricing information for these cases wasn't in the dispatch we received from our boots-on-the-ground at CES.
