Bethesda has announced Dishonored 2, bringing us once more to its Victorian-steampunk setting. Watch the trailer below:
This time around, the main character is Emily Kaldwin, the now grown-up princess from the first game—though players can choose to play as Emily or as the first game's protagonist, Corvo Attano. Each character has their own distinct set of abilities. That should provide some interesting gameplay variety, especially given that Dishonored's missions had multiple paths and options to start with.
The story is set 15 years after the original, at a time when the Isles (and Emily) have a little problem with throne seizure, via the intervention of an otherworldly usurper. The choice between stealthy or murdery gameplay remains, and Bethesda claims that your choices will have "significant" impact on the game world. I hope that's true—in the first game, your influence went little beyond the game's ending. Dishonored 2 is set to be released in the spring of 2016.
