Deals of the week: a curved Dell monitor and a Radeon R9 290

— 1:16 PM on July 10, 2015

It's Friday, and that means it's time for another round of deals. As usual, we've picked through the avalanche of promotions, discounts, and rebate offers to bring you the best of what's out there.

  • Newegg is offering 10% off select Dell monitors with the promo code "DELLBTS" through July 13. That means you can get $90 off the curved, ultra-wide U3415W, a 34" display with a 3440x1440 IPS panel. In addition to a sweeping view, this display has an HDMI 2.0 input, two DisplayPort inputs, four USB 3.0 ports, and a stand with height, tilt, and swivel adjustments.
  • If curves aren't your thing, Adorama still has LG's 34UM65 ultrawide display on sale for $429, $279 off the list price. This display features a 21:9 IPS panel with a 2560x1080 resolution and 100% sRGB coverage.
  • Newegg also has SanDisk's Ultra II 960GB SSD for $329.99. This high-capacity drive claims sequential reads and writes of up to 550MB/s and 500MB/s, respectively. Random reads and writes clock in at 99k and 83k IOps. Crucial's M500 960GB drive has sold out for good, it looks like, so the Ultra II might be the next-best bet for large amounts of solid-state performance on the cheap.
  • Radeon 300-series cards may be out now, but XFX's Double Dissipation Radeon R9 290 is still available for $269.99 for those who want a lot of video card in the under-$300 bracket. This card has 4GB of RAM, a beefy twin-fan cooler, and a 947MHz core clock, and it provides performance near that of Nvidia's GeForce GTX 970 for quite a bit less money. Get one while you can.
  • ASRock's Z97M Pro4 motherboard is just $84.99 at Newegg right now for those looking to overclock Haswell CPUs on the cheap. This board features Intel Ethernet, a Realtek ALC892 audio codec, and six SATA 6Gb/s ports. Seems good for a budget box to us.
  • To wrap things up, Newegg has NZXT's red-and-black H440 mid-tower case for just $109.99, $30 off the list price. This case features an all-steel exterior, a side window, and an internal PSU shroud that should make for clean building. NZXT also decks this baby out with four 120-mm fans by default: three intakes and one exhaust.

That's it for this week's deals. Be sure to share any bargains we've missed with other gerbils in the comments.
