Deals of the week: a cheap IPS display and HP's Spectre X360

— 2:05 PM on July 17, 2015

Disappointed by Amazon's Prime Day extravaganza earlier this week? We've surveyed the rest of this week's deals and discounts from other retailers, and we think these are the best of the bunch.

  • Newegg has LG's 23MP47HQ display on sale for a mere $119.99 with the promo code EMCAVKT44. This 23" display offers a 1080p IPS panel with a low-flicker LED backlight, HDMI and VGA inputs, and a tilt-only stand. It's a little stripped-down, but for those in search of a cheap display with a potentially high-quality panel, this seems like a good bet.
  • Adorama has factory-refurbished versions of HP's Spectre X360 convertible notebook on sale for $750, $150 off the regular $900 starting price. This 13.3" notebook features an all-aluminum body with a flexible hinge that allows it to serve double duty as a free-standing or mobile tablet. A Core i7-5500U, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD should make for brisk performance. A 1080p touch screen handles input in tablet mode.
  • Newegg also has Seasonic's Platinum SS-660XP2 power supply for $130 with the promo code AFNJ1767, good for a $20 discount. This is the power supply I have in my personal PC, and it's rock-solid. The dual-mode fan stops spinning at low loads, and I don't think I've ever heard it turn on, probably thanks to the 80 Plus Platinum efficiency rating.
  • We like Gigabyte's triple-fan Windforce cooler, especially when it's attached to a GeForce GTX 970 like the GV-N970WF3OC-4GD version. This card is selling for $319.99 right now, and those willing to chance a rebate can knock another $20 off. Gigabyte overclocks this card to 1114MHz base and 1253MHz boost speeds, versus Nvidia's 1050MHz and 1178MHz stock clocks. The beefy cooler might unlock decent overclocking potential if you're lucky enough to get the right chip.

That's it for this week. If we missed any good deals, be sure to share with us in the comments.
