Gigbabyte's AMD-760 MPX motherboard

— 4:46 PM on September 16, 2001

According to AKIBA, a prototype of the Gigabyte GA-7DPXDW is being sampled. Unlike Tyan's Thunder K7 and Tiger MP, Gigabyte's board looks tweakable. It has DIP switches that allow FSB speeds from 95MHz to 133MHz and a clock speed multiplier from 5X to 12.5X. The new AMD-768 south bridge permits two 64-bit/66MHz PCI slots, in addition to onboard Promise IDE RAID and Intel LAN controllers. AMD issued a press release back in June.
