MSI releases updated mobo firmware for Skylake freezing bug

— 9:35 AM on January 15, 2016

Remember that Skylake freezing bug we talked about a few days ago? Intel said that system manufacturers would be able to correct the issue with BIOS updates, and it also said it was working with motherboard vendors to make that happen. The first of those updates just came out for owners of MSI hardware.

Overclock3D reports that MSI has an unofficial BIOS update available for its Z170A XPower Titanium and Z170A Gaming M7 motherboards. That's certainly not a wide-ranging selection, but MSI told OC3D that it intends to have updates ready for its full lineup of Skylake motherboards soon. We're expecting other motherboard manufacturers to follow suit with updates of their own.
