Besides the fancy new graphics cards, Asus also showed off some upcoming high-end monitors at its Outshine the Competition event. Along with the gorgeous ROG Swift PG27UQ that we've seen before, the company unveiled the PG27VQ and XG27VQ monitors.
The XG27VQ is the more basic of the offerings—if one can call a 144-Hz curved monitor "basic." The company didn't offer full specs for the display, so we don't know exactly what its capabilities are, but know it comes with a 1920×1080 resolution and supports Nvidia G-Sync. We also can presume that it's a 27" display, judging from the model number. Asus is very excited to let you know that this monitor supports Asus Aura Sync for the RGB LEDs on its back.
Meanwhile, the PG27VQ is a much more interesting product, at least for the majority of gerbils. This model is a curved display with a 2560×1440 resolution that supports refresh rates up to 165 Hz and uses quantum dot technology. Combined with an ultra-bright LED backlight, that qualifies this monitor as HDR-ready. The PG27VQ also supports G-Sync and Aura Sync, and while the company didn't say it, we can presume that it measures 27" across its diagonal.
Lastly, there's the ROG Swift PG27UQ. There aren't any new details about the monitor, but just to recap what we already know: it has an IPS panel with 4K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and G-Sync support. The PG27UQ uses a backlight capable of up to 1,000 cd/m² peak brightness in combination with a quantum-dot backlight filter to achieve the ridiculously high static contrast required by the HDR10 display standard. Sadly, Asus still hasn't posted a release date for this splendorous screen, nor for its slightly-less-splendorous cousins.
Update: in a subsequent post at the ROG blog, Asus revealed that the PG27VQ will be coming in Q3.
