VIA PCI bug fixed?

— 2:05 PM on February 1, 2002

We've been following VIA's PCI bug for some time. Finally, it looks like VIA has fixed the problem with its latest 1.04 patch. tecChannel has tested the patch, and their results are quite promising.

This time, the results are more satisfying. The increase in burst transfer rates is between 20 to 30 MBytes/s with all cards. This brings VIAs PCI-Bus to the level of performance found with Intels chipset. Even with the Advance card these results can be obtained.
They only tested the performance of RAID cards, so it's impossible to tell if this will solve all the problems attributed to the PCI bug. Try at your own risk.
