Transmeta fog to lift today

— 12:00 AM on January 19, 2000

A little start-up company and would-be processor design firm called Transmeta has borrowed some energy from Steve Jobs' famed Reality Distortion Field, creating a huge buzz over whateveritis they're working on. Who all is involved in this secretive company's endeavor? Oh, just a gaggle of Texas Instruments engineers, some big-name financial backers, and, uhm, Linus Torvalds. What are they making? Speculation runs wild, but we know they're planning to introduce a processor named Crusoe. Many are expecting Crusoe to use an innovative and flexible software-based approach to CPU design. Transmeta's web site should reveal all at 12PM PST today. Should be interesting; you might want to drop by and check it out.
