Intel to jettison Rambus?

— 11:11 PM on February 27, 2002

We mentioned that it might be a possiblity earlier, but now EBNews is reporting that Intel will indeed drop support of Rambus's DRDRAM in its new products. Note that PC1066 RDRAM will still be paired with the updated versions of the 850 and 860 chipset with 533MHz front-side bus suppport. After that, though, EBNews says Intel will be rolling out only DDR SDRAM chipsets.
