Dell gets panties in a wad

The Register has an interesting account of Dell's treatment of Chris Tom, the guy behind the AMD Zone and Slot A. Not long after word of the Coppermine bug (that caused some Pentium III systems not to boot properly) was leaked to JC's then investigated and confirmed by The Register, Dell decided Mr. Tom, an employee, was behind the leak. Never mind that JC's, The Register, and Chris Tom all publicly denied any connection; Dell canned him. It seems that they saw his involvement in an Athlon-oriented web site as a threat, even though Mr. Tom listed his involvement with the sites as an item on his resume for the Dell job.
