Sony's radical new PDA

— 1:33 PM on March 11, 2002

Sony has really broken the mold with its latest Palm-based PDAs, which can be seen here. The radical new clamshell design is a major departure from common PDA form factors, and allows Sony to integrate both virtual graffiti and a keyboard for input. Here are a few of the other notable specs from Clie Source.

  • 66MHz Dragonball Super VZ processor
  • 320x480, 65,536 color TFT screen
  • 16MB RAM, 10MB Flash ROM
  • WAV, MIDI, ATRAC3 and MP3 support
  • Lithium ion polymer battery: 10 day charge with normal usage (no music playback)
  • 5.4x2.8x0.65 inches, 7oz with stylus
  • 100,000 pixel digital camera
  • Though the new models aren't coming to North America just yet, they'll certainly shake up the PDA world and hopefully encourage further innovation in a slumping industry.
