Quark says OS X not ready for prime time
I'm not sure what to make of this story (thanks Speed) about Quark claiming Mac OS X isn't quite ready for prime time yet. While some of Quark's complaints sound legit, especially in light of this story, it seems to be Quark has an interest in talking down OS X until they've completed their port of Xpress to OS X.
Regardless, this incident underlines the difficulty of what Apple is doing: building a brand-new modern desktop OS on a Unix foundation. Little things like hardware-acceleration for the GUI tend to get overlooked in first-gen products of this scope. I sincerely hopes Apple succeeds; I just wish they'd lay off the bogus performance claims as they build.
