Windows 2000 available on pre-built systems

— 12:14 AM on January 26, 2000

Those who cannot wait to jump on Microsoft's latest attempt at an operating system, Windows 2000, can get it installed on a pre-built (*gasp*) computer system three weeks before anyone else (if they haven't been using the beta for months now). Compaq, HP, Dell, and IBM are some of the computer vendors who will be offering Win2K systems with the OS installed. Hype will not be included with the OS until its official release date on Feb. 17. This time, the Microsoft OS is only a few years late.
