Digital AM radio is coming

— 12:18 AM on January 26, 2000

USA Digital Radio and Digital Mondiale plan to work together in promoting and creating a worldwide digital AM radio standard. The press release promises better sound quality and reception with data services. (It mentions that its Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) is virtually CD-quality, which isn't being very specific.) Since it's a standard, the receivers should work anywhere in the world that uses the technology if all goes as planned, saving time and money.
